Auricular Therapy FAQs

Auricular

Does Auricular Therapy hurt?

Sometimes, but not always. Due to the quick pain relief, the benefits of auricular therapy outweigh any inconvenience. If patients are uncomfortable with needles, I can use other auricular therapy methods.

How does Auricular Therapy work?

It stimulates endorphin production, relieving pain and discomfort while enhancing a person’s sense of well being.

Auricular Therapy

Auricular therapy involves putting pressure or inserting needles at five distinct points in the ear; I usually include a general acupuncture treatment in an auricular therapy session. Auricular therapy is used to treat a large variety of symptoms that are felt throughout the entire body. It has been proven to reduce anxiety, weight gain, cravings, insomnia, pain and other sources of discomfort, including the side effects of chemotherapy. As a member of Acupuncture Without Borders and in my practice, I have seen the beneficial results of Auricular Therapy on people with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD).

I can offer Acudetox, a type of Auricular Therapy, treatments in a limited capacity along with hypnosis to my psychotherapy patients. However as an Acupuncturist I can offer a full range of Auricular Therapy, including Acudetox, to my acupuncture patients.

Acudetox

Acudetox is a type of Auricular Therapy; specifically acudetox is a 5 point acupuncture treatment protocol established by the National Addiction and Detoxification Association. It is especially helpful for people affected by Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD). Acudetox is useful for treating victims of abuse and those who have lingering negative effects from traumatic experiences.
